He who finds a wife finds a good thing, And obtains favour from the Lord. But to his surprise the father replied with a citation from Paul to the effect that he that marrieth doeth well, but he that marrieth not doeth better. The young suitor was for a moment confounded.

Then with a happy inspiration he replied that Paul had no wife and Solomon had seven hundred, and Solomon, therefore, ought to be the better judge as to marriage. While the preceding anecdote comes on a lighter note, it highlights an important point — marriage brings the favour of God.

God places a huge premium on the marriage institution. In fact, He created it and blessed it. It positions a couple to receive divine assistance en-route the fulfilment of their assignments in life. It is important couples recognise the power a marriage possesses. You can call the favour of God to bear on your situation on account of your marriage. If this is the case, as indeed it is, then do you not think we ought to cherish and guard our marriages as much as we can?

To take our spouses for granted, and to allow strife prevail in our homes, is to neutralise the potential favour available to us in marriage. We must not let this happen. Ask God to give you the grace to love your partner unreservedly. Eschew strife. Do not let the sun go down on your anger.

God is committed to your success in life and in marriage. Cash in, by faith, on the favour of God available to you in your marriage today. Thank You, Father, for Your favour in my marriage.

What does the Bible say about? He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord. An excellent wife is the crown of her husband, but she who brings shame is like rottenness in his bones. Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous. Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good, and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled. House and wealth are inherited from fathers, but a prudent wife is from the Lord. Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.
