Girl Meets Goodbye

Riley Matthews is the main character and title character of Girl Meets World. She is the fourteen-year-old daughter of Cory and Topanga Matthews. Riley and Auggie Matthews are Cory and Topanga's only children, of which Riley is the oldest of the two. Riley is bubbly, outgoing, cheerful, optimistic, intelligent, and slightly awkward, and while she is also sensitive, she is not afraid to voice her opinion about things, and will readily stand up for her friends and family. At first Riley seems immature and noticeably awkward, but as the series progresses, she begins to dress and act more mature. She is also very idealistic, and expects everyone around her to live up to her own expectations, lofty as they may seem at times. Like Cory, Riley also prefers to maintain her own belief in things despite disagreement from others; this trait mainly applies to Maya, upon whom Riley never gives up hope as shown in Girl Meets Pluto. Riley will do whatever it takes to keep her friends happy, even at the expense of her own emotional well-being. Much of Riley's personality is inherited from her father Cory ; Shawn Hunter once described Riley as "Cory with Topanga's hair", but in Girl Meets Cory and Topanga , she discovers that many of her mother Topanga's character traits were handed down to her as well. Riley is rather intelligent, as shown in Girl Meets Maya's Mother , in which she rivals Farkle for the highest grades, and though not generally a sports fan she seems very knowledgeable about the New York Knicks.

The accent was really random. Lucas was never made to be goofy, as Sean said, and that's yet another bit of proof of how underdeveloped he was in Season 1. I read that Riley laughing hard was Rowan breaking character because of how bad Peyton's accent was. Regardless, I liked it--everyone's laughing and not crying overdramatically. Will continue later.

It was the finale, but no one wanted to say goodbye. It was episodes like these that set Girl Meets World apart from most other current shows on the Disney Channel. The majority of Disney Channel and Nickelodeon shows perform this goal through the approach of comedy. This is not to say that Girl Meets World did not have a laugh-track of their own—both Girl and Boy Meets World had comedic episodes and were structured in a comedic series format.

The series centers around the life of Riley and her friends and family, particularly their school life, in which Cory is their history teacher. Riley shares a strong relationship with her best friend Maya Hart, who assists her in learning to cope with the social and personal issues of adolescence. Several Boy Meets World cast members reprise their roles in the series. In her bedroom, Riley Matthews and her best friend, Maya Hart, try to sneak out her window to ride the subway, but are stopped by Riley's parents, Cory and Topanga Matthews. Cory and Topanga give them the permission to ride the subway, but only if they make the world theirs, instead of their parents. On the subway, they meet a handsome boy named Lucas Friar, whom Riley immediately develops a crush on. In history class, Cory assigns the class to write an essay on something they would fight for. Riley and Maya decide to fight for no homework, which leads to accidentally setting off a fire alarm sprinkler.
