Find my midwife nelson

The Midwifery Council does not employ or recommend midwives, we do hold the Register of Midwives. Simply type in the name of your midwife, and the Register will show if they have a current practising certificate and other information such as their qualifications and any conditions on their practice. In New Zealand, registration is for life, so midwives remain in the Register even when they are not practising. This is a good option.

Midwifery care is about creating an environment where women play an active role in their health, pregnancy and childbirth decisions. Nurse-midwifery combines the strengths of midwifery — guiding women in the healthy, natural processes of pregnancy and childbirth — with current evidence and modern medical resources where appropriate. Nurse Midwives in the United States are health care providers who offer services to women of all ages and stages of life. With their advanced education and their focus on research and partnering with women, they are among the most modern, forward-thinking health providers in the United States today.

Why I Chose a Midwife

I hear from women regularly about their homebirth experiences. And being in the business of rabble rousing and questioning the status quo, many of these women who seek us out are unhappy with the care they received from their midwives, not just OBs. There are plenty of variations on the same theme. Midwifery care feels just as cold and clinical as OB care, just with a rocking chair and some nice music in the background. I hear stories, get emails, talk in person or on the phone to these women. They thought that they were hiring a midwife, and that meant they would get holistic, evidence based care, and flexible care that was woman centered. Well, they were wrong, and they are pissed.

Certified nurse midwife April Nelson asked Jessica Schultze if she wanted to feel her daughter's head, then guided Jessica's hand to the baby. Schultze was able to catch the baby herself and immediately cradle the newborn to her chest.
